History

A short period at the end of the 80’s and at the very beginning of the next decade was a time for Russian rock ‘ n ‘ roll breakthrough into another reality: there was access to relevant musical information, opened new horizons of creativity. On the other hand, many musicians of that time became a kind of lost generation: rock clubs were a thing of the past, and show business was not yet born.

Atlantis group was organized in late 1987 by first-year students of LETI, Leningrad electrotechnical Institute, Anton Krivonosov, guitar, Oleg Artyushin, bass, and Yuri Brovin, drums. In accordance with the trends of the time they played their own songs (mainly by Krivonosov) in the style of the new wave and neo-romance, initially called ATLANTIS.

LETI had a rich history of Amateur performances, which since the 60s annually presented at the festival “Spring in LETI”. The following year, ATLANTIS applied and made her debut at the festival, where Artyushin, a little concerning, demonstrated the ability to break dance. During the next season, the group honed skills, developed a repertoire and occasionally performed at student evenings.
